Translations

McProgression ships complete player and administrator text catalogs in English (en), Dutch (nl), French (fr), German (de), Spanish (es), and Italian (it). English is the canonical catalog and fallback. Minecraft item and block names are rendered through the client's Minecraft language strings; command names, permission nodes, configuration keys, skill IDs, and activity IDs remain stable identifiers.

Choose a language

Set the locale in plugins/McProgression/config.yml, then restart the server:

language: nl

The plugin loads the matching file from plugins/McProgression/lang/, for example lang/nl.yml. Use en, nl, fr, de, es, or it. An unavailable locale falls back to English. A missing key in a selected catalog also falls back to English and is reported in the server log, so partial custom catalogs remain usable.

Customize or add a catalog

Edit the selected YAML file to customize wording and legacy colors with & codes (for example, &f white, &b aqua, and &7 gray). Keep the existing key names and preserve every {placeholder} used by a message. You can add a locale file named with a two-letter language code and select it with language: <code>; English remains the fallback for keys that the custom file does not define. Restart after edits because catalogs load at startup.

The plugin translates its own command output, help and navigation, skill/activity/rank labels, HUD text, announcements, item-rule denials, world-access messages, preset descriptions, CoreProtect import messages, and configuration audit findings. Legacy ampersand colors are parsed in localized Adventure components as well as menu and HUD text. Material names in item-rule messages are supplied as translatable Minecraft components, so each player sees the name in their client language.

Catalog maintenance

Language files are created in plugins/McProgression/lang/ on first startup. Keep the existing message keys and placeholders intact when changing text. New releases may add messages; compare your customized files with the new defaults and add any missing keys. Have a fluent speaker review wording before using a translated catalog with players. Existing files are preserved on later starts, so your edits are not overwritten.
